Soldiers flee, vehicles destroyed as gunmen attack military checkpoint in Owerri

Hoodlums have set ablaze Ukworji military checkpoint along Owerri-Onitsha road, Owerri, Imo State in the morning hours of Monday, 5th April, 2021.

An eyewitness account said that the military men on sighting the gunmen, took to their heels and the assailants set all the operational vehicles numbering over 5 ablaze.

This is the second attack on security outfit on the same day as gunmen attacked Owerri Correctional facility and Police headquarters earlier in the day.
