Imo State: Prisons Facility, Police Command Attack, Emerging Details Unfolding

It will be recalled that Hotmedia.ng reported very early in the morning hours of today’s Monday 5th April, 2021. That Imo State Correctional center and the state police command was razed down by Hoodlums.

The more revealing details from sources said, no fewer than 2,000 inmates was released on Monday morning in Owerri, the Imo State capital when suspected hoodlums attacked the Correctional Facility near the State Government House.

As the hoodlums also attacked the Imo State Police command headquarters where they also freed over 600 suspects in police custody held at the Criminal Investigation Department cells of the state police command.

As the hoodlums set the police headquarters ablaze dozens of vehicles completely got burnt in the process.

According to sources, the attack lasted for three hours, it started around 1: am and ended around 4: am without any resistance.

At the time of filing this report, the State Government is having emergency security meeting with the heads of security outfits in the state. The Imo State public Relations officer of the Correctional Centre, Mr James Madugba has confirmed the attack on the prisons facilties, and escape of the inmates from the Correctional Facility. Mr Madugba assured the Imolites that the situation is under control, he urge the citizens and residents to go their lawful business.
