Alhaji DR. Haroun Ogbonnia Ajah has insisted he is the legitimate elected Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi state in the state congress held at New Layout Primary School, Abakaliki on Saturday the 16th of October,2021.
Also elected at the congress which was observed by several security agencies is the National Vice president of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Chief Alex Okemini(Okenwa Izzi)as the APC State Secretary, Chief Joseph Aja Nwofoke as Publicity Secretary,Barr.Sampson Ekegbo as Legal Adviser among others. Alhaji DR. Haroun Ogbonnia Ajah coasted to victory with 1,200 .
A faction of the party said to be loyal to the state Governor, Engr David Umahi, held their own congreses in a different location. A member of the party who spoke to our correspondent reported that the parallel congreses was a result of deep crisis rocking the APC between the old and new political blocs in the ruling party.
Alhaji DR.Ajah during his acceptance speech, promised to sanitize the APC irrespective of social classes, idealogy and political camps and to return political power back to the grassroots for the needed rural infrastructural development and repositioning of APC towards the 2023 elections.
