Just In: Five Governors, Others Declare Support For Peter Obi’s Presidential Bid

Ahead of the 2023 elections, the Labour Party has said more than five governors and other leaders are supporting its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

More than five governors and other leaders have declared their support for the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi.

The Deputy National Chairman of Labour Party, Bashiru Apapa made this known in Ado Ekiti during a sensitisation programme for LP members at the weekend.

Apapa, who said Obi’s presidential bid was daily receiving overt and covert support across the nation, said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are afraid of Obi’s recent popularity.

Why The Extremists Want Obi Dead Apapa, however, said the party will not mention the names of the governors for now. ●

“There are some people who you may not believe are coming up to support Obi; some leaders up to heads of state are in support of Obi.

Many governors, more than five of them, are supporting the party underneath. We don’t want to mention their names for now.

“It is because of the popularity of the LP now that everybody is embracing the party; definitely, the APC and PDP are afraid

“It is because of the way Obi performed before. Again, not all of them believe that Nigeria should continue the way it is going now. They want change, better and positive change for that matter, not like the other change we experienced in the past.”

He added, “It is because of the popularity of the LP now that everyone is embracing the party; clearly, the APC and PDP are worried.”

He claimed that the APC and PDP had made the LP the target of their criticisms because they were afraid of the increased support it was experiencing.

In his remarks, Odunayo Okunade, the chairman of the LP in Ekiti State, asked members and supporters to keep organizing people “in a quest to have a government that will be sensitive to the plights of Nigerians in 2023.”

He expressed happiness with the party and Obi’s growing support in the state.

Peter Obi

“With months to the election, there is no denying the momentum building behind Mr Obi but cynics also point to the lack of a nationwide party structure to support the view that, while possible, an Obi presidency remains highly improbable”.

Peter Obi retorts that his structure is “the 100 million Nigerians that live in poverty [and] the 35 million Nigerians who don’t know where their next meal will come from”.

If half of those turn out to vote him on election day, it might very well be all that he needs.
