Professor Chukwuma Soludo Emerges As APGA Flagbearer, As He Won The Primary. 

Former Central Bank Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has emerged as the standard bearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the November 6 Gubernatorial Election.

At the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, venue of the accreditation, as early as eight am, the delegates throng in and were arranged ward by ward according to their local government areas, afterwhich they were conveyed to Professor Dora Akunuili Women’s Center, Awka, for the Primary election at 12 noon.

The voting proper continued till five pm, at the end of which counting commenced and ended at exactly 7 pm.

Professor Soludo’s emergence came after the primary election as statutory and ADHOC delegates cast their votes in the watchful eyes of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Total number of APGA is delegates is 812, out of which 795 were accredited.

Total votes cast is 792, out of which Professor Soludo won 740 votes

Soludo won with 740 votes.

Three other screened and cleared aspirants who contested the APGA Primary election include Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, Honourable Thanked Ibe and Sir Damian Okolo, were also present at the venue.

Chief Ezenwankwo polled 41 votes, Thankgod Ibeh polled 4 votes, while Damian Okolo polled a total of 7 seven votes.

Speaking, the National Vice Chairman of APGA in the South West, Nigeria who is Chairman of the five man electoral organizing panel, Deacon. Samson Olalere described APGA as a disciplined party, having conducted a peaceful primary election.

While congratulating everyone for good conduct including the Governor who provided the enabling environment, Deacon Olalere who described the process as a family affair, recognised the presence of two INEC officials from Abuja and three from their Anambra office, meaning that party is on course.

Speaking to the media shortly after the election, Governor Willie Obiano commended the process as transparent as possible and congratulated Professor Soludo, as he assured of working with him to ensure that APGA wins the general election come November the 6th.

Airing their views on the purported INEC letter making the rounds on the social media that the party’s delegate list is not approved by the electoral umpire, the State Chairman of APGA, Sir Norbert Obi, Senator Victor Umeh, Member representing Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Council Area Hon. Dozie Nwankwo queried why INEC is present to observe a a process it did not approve.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Soludo said that with the action of the party, he has renewed vigour to pursue the mandate, expressing optimsm that the party will emerge victorious, even as he extended the olive branch to his co-aspirants, atleast, for the sake of the party.
