Labour Party National Chairman, Abure, Dissolves Party’s State Executive Council In Rivers State Over Anti-party Activities, Corruption

The Presidential Spokesperson of the Labour Party, Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo, In a statement made available to Hotmedia.ng on Monday, said:

“Comrade Julius Abure has dissolved the Labour Party State Executive Council of Rivers State with immediate effect, for gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of Labour Party funds.

“The National Chairman believes that it’s in the interest of Labour Party and the Obidient movement in Rivers State that those who were at the helm of affairs in Rivers State when our presidential mandate was openly stolen in Rivers State should step aside until full investigation is completed on what happened on that day.

“The National Chairman has lost confidence in the ability of the compromised State Executive Council led by Mr Deinye Pepple to lead the campaign for the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections come March 11th.

“He urges all Obidients in Rivers State to disregard every comment made by the disgraced State Chairman of the Labour Party, Deinye Pepple, on the election of March 11th and reiterates the full backing of the Labour Party on the candidacy of Comrade Beatrice Itubo of the Labour Party as the next Governor of Rivers State.

“He therefore enjoins all Obidients to come out massively on March 11th to vote for Comrade Beatrice Itubo of Labour Party.”

In a statement issued by the Sacked Labour Party state, Chairman in Rivers State “We Have Adopted PDP Candidate, Siminialayi Fubara As Our Candidate For March 11 Guber Polls – Rivers State” says ex-Labour party Chairman in Rivers State Dienye Pepple .

During a press conference this morning, the sacked LP State Chairman, in the presence of some executives of Labour Party in Rivers State and Local Government Party Chairmen of the Labour Party in Rivers State, stated that the reason behind this decision is that, Sim Fubara comes from a Senatorial District that has never produced a Governor before.

“The principle of Justice, Equity and Fairness.” he said.

They also withdrew their support for Beatrice Itubo, throwing their weight behind Sim Fubara.

According to the Official Statement Releases by Labour Party National Chairman, Barr Julius Abure, says the Labour Party not in alliance with any political party.

As preparation for this Saturday’s Governorship/State House of Assembly elections enter final preparations, the Labour Party is leaving nothing to chance in ensuring that our candidates not only participate, but win at the ballot.

This call becomes necessary given reports from some political opportunists from other political platforms, claiming that they have reached an agreement with Obidients and LP supporters to cast their ballots for them in this Saturday’s polls.

We want to state categorically and unequivocally that the national secretariat of LP has not given any instructions for any chapter of the party to liaise or support any candidate except LP candidates in this Saturday’s polls.

Our members should not only go out and vote, but follow the process to a conclusive end as provided by the Law.

We encourage millions of the electorate who believe in LP presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and the philosophy of the party not to be deterred, but troop out en masse and vote for all LP candidates anywhere in the country. The LP is not in any alliance with any political party in the run-up to this Saturday’s polls.
