The Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo on Monday said the crisis in the country as a result of the Naira redesign policy of the Federal Government should not truncate Saturday’s presidential election, EaglesPath Online reports.

There are uncertainty on whether the election will go ahead as scheduled especially with the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that it has not received the funds it needed for logistics from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Speaking in an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT, Adebayo who appealed to Nigerians to be patient no matter the provocation said the election should not be postponed.

He said “I see no reason why the election should not hold. It is up to INEC and the government of the day. We in SDP are prepared”.

“We have noted already that the irresponsible confiscation of currency notes by the CBN and the Buhari administration is unwise, unsound, inhumane and devastating to the socioeconomic well-being of Nigerians”.

” We sympathize with the common people. The exercise won’t achieve any of the advertised goals.
Notwithstanding, the foregoing, election should still hold. Our people should be peaceful and enduringly patient, no matter the provocation”.
