Hotmedia.ng learnt that the Special Tactical Squad (STS) who arrived from Abuja with the Benin head of (STS) invaded Mr. Glory Ikponmwosa’s house and destroyed the property in the house and made away with nearly Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (N800,000) along side other valuables.
Speaking with our correspondent via telephone, one of Mr. Glory Ikponmwosa family members said nothing incriminating was found in Mr. Ikponmwosa’s house, saying that his brother was innocent of the trump up allegations.
“I want to thank the Inspector-General, Deputy Inspector-General and Assistant Inspector-General of Police for the professional handling of the case.
“The (STS) team from Abuja and their Edo State collaborators acted on a frivolous petition by the former community chairman Mr. Ovbokhan Edia, a notorious murder suspect who is facing murder case in Abuja.
“Ovbokhan unfounded allegation is a calculated attempt to extricate himself form prosecution long after the IG and DIG have given directive to the Force (CID) for his prosecution”, the family member said.
Mrs. Ikponmwosa and wife of the victim decried the juxtaposed manner with which their house was invaded while money and valuables were looted by the police officers.

“I was beaten mercilessly by the police after they used guns and battle axes to remove the gates and doors in our house.
“They looted the jewellery, gold chains, four cars, necklaces and removed over Seven Hundred Thousand Naira from our save”, Mrs. Ikponmwosa said.

Correspondent that Mr. Glory Ikponmwosa is a law abiding citizen who hates injustice, oppression and criminality.
“The allegations against Mr. Glory are completely unfounded and malicious to degenerate a good man whose reign as the Community Chairman has brought absolutely peace in the community and the entire neighbourhood”.
Several calls made to Inspector Kingsley, the IPO of the case were not responded to at the time of filling this report.
