Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has alleged that two Channels TV reporters have been arrested over interviews conducted on the television station.
It was earlier reported that the NBC queried the TV station over an interview with Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom and Retired Naval Commodore, Kunle Olawunmi.
However, on Thursday afternoon, Sani took to Twitter to condemn the rumoured arrests.
“A Journalist can only ask questions, he or she can’t be held responsible for the answers or the truths or facts contained in the answers.”
“The arrest of the @channelstv presenters Chambalain Usor & Kayode Okikiolu is unconscionable. We can’t solve our problems by muzzling the press.
According Arise TV, Department of State Security (DSS) has invited anchors of Channels Television breakfast programme over an interview conducted on Wednesday with Kunle Olawunmi.
In the interview, Mr Olawunmi, a retired naval commodore had accused President Muhammadu Buhari’s government of shielding sponsors of Boko Haram terrorists.
Although the former Naval officer failed to mention names, he accused some governors, ministers and senators of sponsoring the terrorist sect Boko Haram and that the government knows them.

A lawyer from the organization is accompanying the anchors who are said to be on their way to Abuja at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has issued a query to the broadcaster.
The Nigerian broadcast regulator is accusing Channels Television of airing an inciting and divisive interview that featured Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom.
Governor Ortom in the interview accused President Buhari of having a hidden agenda of attempting to ‘fulanize’ the country, in reference to the grazing route policy
NBC is demanding Channels Television responds within 24-hours.
