Buba’s Bill To Make Agric Science A Core Subject In Secondary Schools Moves To Senate. 

The Bill, sponsored by Rt.Hon.(Dr.) Yusuf Buba Yakub is seeking to make Agricultural Science a compulsory subject in Nigeria’s high schools. It has been transmitted to the Senate for concurrence after it was passed by the House of Representatives early last month.

A letter accompanying the Bill which was signed by the Clerk to the House of Representatives, Francis Chinedu Akubueze, explained that,
“Pursuant to Order Twelve,Rule 10(5) of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives…” the House had passed the Bill into Law and was, therefore, requiring Senate’s concurrence.

You may recall that the Bill that began its journey in the 8th Assembly was brought back to the 9th Assembly via a Motion of the Chairman,House Committee on Business and Rules,and finally got passed by the House of Representatives into Law on June 8 this year. It will become Law after receiving Presidential accent.
