Yuletide Season: TPN-USA President, Okebata Task’s Easterners On Igbo Communal System

The President of Turning Point Nigeria-USA, Sir Oswald Chima Okebata urged the Igbo nation and Ndigbo to embrace the culture of Igbo Communal heritage System.

TPN-USA, President, Sir Oswald Okebata who wrote from the State of Pennsylvania, United States of America, USA on the Christmas eve to celebrate the 2024 Christmas season. According to sir Okebata, In this season of Christmas, the Igbos in diaspora are heading to Eastern Nigeria to celebrate with their kinsmen. As we celebrate, let it be also the time to reflect and reconnect to our cultural values, the statement reads.

Our ancestors have a value system of handling every life situation that is far superior to the Western values that we are eager to embrace. Respect of individual right, freedom of speech, marriage right, system of inheritance, religious freedom and our system of helping each other, he Said.

Sir Okebata shares how his father always tells him that Igbo has not destitute. Meaning we take care of our own. Every Igbo is your kinsman. Our wealthy individuals will not allow the poor to go lacking in their community, he stated.

This time, the meeting of Umunna, it’s to us, not wasting value opportunity in settling only disputes and showing off our wealth. We can understand each other in our kindreds and make meaningful effort to uplift those that need it and correct those that were engaging in nefarious activities.

He called for a stop over the insecurity in Igboland, insecurity must stop because with our system if we apply it well, we can fish out those responsible and bring it to an end once and for all, he admonished.

Those coming back to the village with their children don’t lock them up in your gated mansions, allow them to go out and play with other children in the village, that how they will get to know who is from the same village as them and build a better network for the future and sustain our culture of don’t live your brother. Let us not give in to the fear that village people are dangerous and out to get you, remember an average Igbo is not a killer we love and grow our community, he advised.

The political relevance of Ndi Igbo in Nigeria politics start at meeting Umunna. When we set standards in our communities and maintain them, we can also demand the same standard for the entire nation.

A well governed and united Igbo nation will never be marginalized in Nigeria, because we have the resources and knowledge that the country needs. The current state of bad governance in Igbo land will not be tolerated if our community development unions and community association are in order and were empowered to demand the best from our elected officials.

Politicians respect people that are organized and know what they want, as an Igbo man, i am aware that we know what we want for our people but we lack the political organization and will the demand it. As a community, when our politicians understand that there is a price to pay for bad governance there will be positive changes in our land, he said.
