Just In: SDP National Youth Leader, Ogbonna Endorses Impending Protest, Calls For Constitutional Protection

Hunger and hardship protest,  the National Youth Leader of Social Democratic Party, SDP has endorsed the August 1st looming protest over high inflation of commodities, hardship in country under the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led APC’s government.

In Press release signed by the National Youth Leader of Social Democratic Party SDP, Hon Uchechukwu Ogbonna at the party’s national headquarters, Abuja

According to the message released by the National Youth Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Hon Uchechukwu Ogbonna, I am compelled to address the growing discontent among Nigerians. The list of grievances is long and pressing, with issues ranging from hunger and inflation to excessive borrowings and crude oil theft. The statement reads.

It is unacceptable that the basic needs of the people are not being met, and we have to demand change as the Youths of this great country, he said.

The SDP, as a leading opposition party, has always stood for the rights and welfare of the Nigerian people. We have consistently advocated for good governance, transparency, and accountability. Unfortunately, the current administration has failed to deliver on its promises, leaving the people to suffer.

Ironically, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has led protests in the past, challenging unfavorable policies. We now call on him to address the very issues he once protested against. It is time for the government to take responsibility for its actions and work towards creating a better future for all Nigerians.

We endorse the impending protest and urge the Inspector General of Police to provide adequate security for protesters, as required by the constitution. The right to peaceful assembly and protest is a fundamental human right, and we will not stand idly by while it is trampled upon.
The youth wing of the SDP stands in solidarity with the Nigerian people, committed to supporting the pursuit of an economically virile society.

According to Hon Uchechukwu Ogbonna,  the youth are emand that the government tackle the listed issues, including:
– Hunger and inflation
– Excessive borrowings and crude oil theft
– Poor road networks and inadequate infrastructure
– Highest cost of governance and budget padding
– Injustice and corruption in the courts
– Failed civil service system and non-functional educational system
– Unaccountability of public office holders
We will not beg for power, as it belongs to the people. Instead, we demand that the government work towards creating an environment conducive to economic growth, social justice, and human development. Enough is enough; it’s time for change.
The SDP is committed to providing a viable alternative to the current administration. We will continue to advocate for the rights and welfare of the Nigerian people, and we will work tirelessly to ensure that our country is governed with transparency, accountability, and justice.
Join us in this fight for a better Nigeria. Together, we can make a difference, He stated
