The Mercy Igbe-Arase Foundation and the Solomon Arase Foundation (SEAF) have graduated thirty-six students on its scholarship core mandate in the field of medicine; pharmacy and law, while the rest six-two beneficiaries who are still in about 20 Universities and Polytechnics across the country are at the verge of completing their course of studies.

Famous for its dedication towards education for the less privileged and indigent students, Mercy Igbe Arase’s Foundation has broadened and scaled up its humanitarian activities to include provisions of social amenities in Owan East, Owan West and the entire seven local government areas of Edo South.

The Mercy Igbe Arase Foundation was established in memory of Late Mercy Igbe-Arase, a seasoned old-fashioned teacher who insisted that knowledge is the only enduring asset one can acquire in one’s life time, the only wealth worth pursuing and the bedrock for the attainment of self-esteem and excellence in all endeavours.

The foundation was initiated by her son; Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, together with friends and family to continue her legacy and honour her memory. The foundation’s history is rooted in the values and principles that she embodied, including a strong commitment to education, legacy of service, knowledge and empathy.
Since its inception, the Mercy Igbe Arase Foundation has made significant strides in achieving its objectives including:

Awarding scholarships annually to students, providing them with the financial support needed to pursue their academic dreams. Organizing community development projects that drive positive change such as health outreach programs and skills training programs in Ora, Edo State and collaborating with local organizations to promote human rights, focusing on vulnerable groups and advocating for social justice.

The foundation’s consistent efforts have led to a tangible impact in the lives of many, fostering a brighter future for individuals and communities alike. By providing access to education, promoting community development and championing human rights, the Mercy Igbe Arase Foundation is leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of those it serves. The Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation was incorporated in the year 2022 by Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, a distinguished retired Nigerian Police Officer who served as the 18th Inspector General of Police.

Guided by his conviction that education is a treasured asset that never loses its value, Dr. Arase founded the organization to champion educational excellence, empower individuals and foster community development. Through the foundation, Dr. Arase continues to inspire and make a lasting impact on the lives of many.
In its inaugural year, the Solomon Ehigiator Arase Foundation hosted its maiden annual lecture series, themed “Citizens’ Inclusion in Security Management.

Strictly speaking, Mercy Igbe-Arase Educational Foundation has been a beacon of Hope for the underprivileged and humanity. Since its inception, Mercy Igbe Arase’s Educational Foundation has been a shining example of philanthropy and dedication to education. The foundation has tirelessly worked to provide access to university education for over a hundred indigent students, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and achieve their dreams.

Remarkably, many of these students have pursued careers in medicine, pharmacy, and law, fields that require dedication, hard work, and financial resources. Despite these challenges, the foundation has provided scholarships, mentorship, and support, enabling these students to excel and become professionals who will make a positive impact in their communities.

Mercy Igbe Arase’s Educational Foundation is a testament to the power of education and the impact one person can have on the lives of others. By providing opportunities for higher education, the foundation has not only transformed individual lives but also contributed to the betterment of society as a whole.

To mark Solomon Arase’s birthday on June 21st, the foundation will be giving out cash award to the recipients at 17, Sokponba Benin City.
