The Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to declare the candidates of Labour Party in Enugu and Abia states, Barr Chijioke Edeoga and Dr Alex Oti as rightful winners of the gubernatorial elections in the two states. INEC must ensure that the Peoples wish and mandates in Enugu and Abia states gubernatorial elections are not subverted by the ruling party in the two states, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The votes of people must be announced.
In a press statement issued by the President general of Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide, Honourable Casmir Nnadozie Irekamba on Sunday, 19th March, 2023 in Enugu.
According to the statement Mr Irekamba has raised the alarm over alleged plot by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate some of the governorship election results in Enugu and Abia state respectively.
IYA Worldwide claimed that virtually all the results uploaded and released so far had Labour Party winning by a landslide in the two states of Enugu and Abia.

The Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide President General therefore, called on the Federal Government and INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to ensure that only original election results and the real winners of the gubernatorial elections of Enugu and Abia, Barr Chijioke Edeoga and Dr Alex Oti are announced.
The ruling party in the two states of Enugu and Abia, People’s Democratic Party, PDP are making effort to push in fake results. IYA Worldwide further alleged the PDP’s scheme was to flood the collation centre with counterfeit results.
“We want to use this opportunity to call on the Federal government and particularly the INEC chairman to ensure that the right thing is done in Enugu and Abia states. So, we at the Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide expect that any result that is not coming out of BIVAS accreditation will not be accepted. He said.
“Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide urge the INEC chairman to prevail on the INEC Resident electoral Commissioners for Enugu, Abia and other INEC staff to give peace a chance and ensure that the right thing is done.” he maintained.
We also called on the Inspector General of Police to intervene as quickly as possible to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the two states of Enugu and Abia if the will of the people is subverted.
