Breaking: 2022 Enugu Council Election Stalled, As IPAC Pull Out, Resolves Not To Participate, Gives Reasons

The Enugu chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) the umbrella body of all the INEC registered political parties in Nigeria  has pull out of the 2022 Enugu Council Election scheduled to hold on 23rd February, 2022 as announced by Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC.

In a communique issued and signed by the Chairman of all the registered political parties that made up of Inter-Party Advisory Council Enugu State chapter at the end of the emergency meeting in Enugu on 19th February, 2022

According to the Communique the Enugu chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC resolves never to participate in the said election and denounce that there is no or any election going on, there is no evidence of any election preparation on going in the state.

The Communique reads as issued and signed by the Chairmen of seventeen out of the eighteen registered political parties in Nigeria by INEC.

a. That Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC did not in line with the law notify Inter-Party Advisory Council Enugu State that there is going to be local government election in the state.

b. That Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission has not in line with the law, released names of candidates vying for the said elections.

c. That Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission has not issued any modalities for the election in less than 4 days to the elections

d. That it is on record that ENSIEC has or is using the deregistered political parties in Enugu State for the elections and are denying 17 registered political parties participation except the ruling party in the state, people’s Democratic Party, PDP

e. That ENSIEC did not publish the list of voters or voters register in line with the law establishing it.

f. That the other seventeen (17) registered political parties are being denied access to the office, documents meant for the election by ENSIEC and thereby occasion miscarriage of justice.

Mr Alor Edwin – Accord, Barr Casmir Uchenna Agbo – Labour, Hon Onodu Michael – AA, Hon Elvis Ugwoke ZLP, Hon Nnaemeka Oko – AAC, Sir Magnus Ezeh – SDP,  Barr Christopher Onyeodizieu – PRP,  Mrs Juliana Madike – ADP

Others are : Barr Ken Ikeh – APM, Hon Foster Eneh – APP,  Barr Ugochukwu Agballa – APC, Comrade Stella Chukwuma – ADC, Hon Ugwu Chiedozie – NRM, Engr Tony Udeani – YPP,  ND Enechi Onyia – APGA, Hon. Ehuka Ugodu – NNPP and Mr Manifest Nnamdi – Boot Party

The Communique, therefore, reads ” Inter-Party Advisory Council has raised the issue of bias by Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC and are doubtful of a free, fair and credible election come 23d of February, 2022.
