The Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed the party’s state congress for Saturday, October 2.
Channels TV reports that this was contained in a terse statement by the secretary of the party’s committee, James Akpanudoedehe in Abuja on Monday, September 13.
It was gathered the secretary also said that the sale of forms for the congress begins on Wednesday, September 15.

According to the report, the party’s congresses started on July 31 with the ward congress while the local government congress took place on September 4.
Earlier, the national caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly agreed to submit a tentative date of October 30-31st, 2021 for the party’s national convention.
Premium Times reported that the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal, announced this on Friday, August 27, after the national caucus meeting.
Tambuwal who is the governor of Sokoto state said an eight-member panel led by former Senate president, David Mark, has also been set up to interface with aggrieved party chieftains and ensure all court matters are withdrawn, The Cable stated.
The Sokoto state governor said: “I appeal on behalf of this body to all well-meaning members of our party in the interest of the party to shield their sword and let us embrace peace because Nigeria is waiting for PDP, and I believe that we have the capacity to resolve whatever issues we have internally.”
Meanwhile, a former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff, has called on Nigerians to avoid ethnic, religious, and political sentiments in the search for the country’s next president.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains said the masses must prioritise competence above every other factor come 2023 ( elections.
Sheriff who spoke with members of an APC pressure group, Frontier for Equality Leadership and Good Governance, on Thursday, September 9, noted that maintained that it does not matter where President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor comes from, he or she must be given full support, Punch reports.
He stated: “If the man that will bring succour to Nigeria is coming from a mountain in Ogoja, we should go and look for him. “If it is in the extreme end of Adamawa, we should go and look for him. If he is coming from the end of Anambra, we should go and look for him. We must do soul-searching and look for a leader.
“Unless we all believe in ourselves as a nation, and believe all of us are equal, and believe that a good leader will emerge from any part of the country, regardless of his religion, tribe or where he comes from, we will not succeed in getting it right in thIs country we dearly love.”
