Ohaneze knocks Buhari’s Planned Visit To Imo, Demands Kanu’s Release

The President General of the apex socio cultural organization, High Chief Chidi Ibe MFR, in a statement, noted that even though the report of the President’s visit may be a ruse planted by the Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, to justify his wastage of public funds on endless trips to Abuja, it will not be welcomed as long as the IPOB leader is still wallowing in detention.

High Chief Chidi Ibe, President General Ohaneze Ndigbo

Ahead the  planned visit of President Muhamamadu Buhari to Imo State, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has demanded the unconditional release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

According to the statement, “we are not desirous of having Mr. President as our visitor now, especially when our son Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is being incarcerated in DSS cell. Ohanaeze Ndigbo had hitherto appealed to the Federal Government under the leadership of President Buhari to grant amnesty to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and ensure national rehabilitation on him.

Of what economic value is Buhari’s visit, what will it attract to Imo State and the Southeast generally. To say the least, it is a mockery on Ndigbo, and we can’t be mocked with our son suffering in detention. Mr President please release our son, we hold him in high esteem, we need dialogue and negotiation with Federal Government.

As the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo we have constituted a panel of Igbo patriots to dialogue and negotiate with Federal Government on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release and the  marginalization of Ndigbo”.

Ohanaeze also called for an end to the the militarization of the Southeast by withdrawing all the soldiers deployed in the zone.

“Withdraw all the soldiers deployed to Alaigbo, pull all military and joint tasks force teams, the killing of our people must be stopped,  we have been killed enough, enough is enough”, the statement added.

It continued, “the governor of Imo state lied by telling the public that President Buhari is visiting Imo State or any other part of Alaigbo, it’s not true, Buhari is not visiting Imo or any other part of Southeast, he lied to justify the wasted resources of Imo State in Abuja for the past two months he has been in Abuja for nothing beneficial to Imo state

“Ndigbo must be guided against hypocritical behaviour of most of the governors and other notable leaders in Igboland, Ohanaeze Ndigbo under my leadership will begin to address sycophantic life of some leaders and take appropriate disciplinary measures or actions against such people who sabotage efforts of our heroes past in Igboland”.

“We appreciate Mr. President over some developmental strides ceded to Ndigbo, some on going, especially the 2nd Niger bridge”.
