According to a report Kidnappers now demand bags of rice, noodles, and condiments as part of the payment in Abuja.
This new concept is now in full force in Kiyi and Anguwar Hausawa communities in Kuje and Abaji area councils.

Families of kidnapped victims were asked to bring these items along with the ransom.
A relative of a kidnap victim in Kiyi village, simply identified as Joshua, said he was forced to buy some of these items.
