As part of an ongoing efforts by APC to rebuild and reposition the party, the National Chairman of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), H.E. Mai Mala Buni has approved the constitution of a high-powered 61-member Contact/Strategy Committee for the APC spread across the nation.

In the list which even included Gov Hope Uzodimma and other Imo citizens in APC, Okorocha was excluded. The committee will be inaugurated today,Tuesday 23rd March, 2021, by 2:00pm at the APC National Secetariat, Abuja.
It is not unlikely that APC will scheme out Rochas Okorocha in the share of her structure. He has not been forgiven of the greatest anti-party activity waged on APC at the wake of 2019 elections on Imo.
Recall that when the issue of his succession came up in Imo, Okorocha insisted that it will be his son in-law Uche Nwosu or nobody else and insisted on taking Hope Uzodimma’s senatorial seat slot.
With his zone having done 16 years as governor, the conventional reasoning pervading in Imo State then was that Owerri zone which has ruled the state for only two years and which has the highest number of registered voters should produce the governor but Rochas remained obstinate.

Do you remember his battle with the Odigie Oyegun leadership of the party when he was schemed out of the party structure? After that, Oshiomhole came and dissolved the party structure to please him and asked him to hand pick the new structure.
Now the same Oshiomhole brokered peace between him and other leadears of the party and asked him to share structure and candidates with others on a 55-45 ratio where he takes the higher share.

Okorocha bluntly refused. He insisted on nominating all candidates for the senate, House of Reps and House of Assembly and only a few like late Benjamin Uwajumogu who was reelected senator battled to retrieve their candidacies through Oshiomhole’s intervention. Of course Okorocha gave Uwajimogu’s slot to one of his cronies Obiareri.
Seeing the acute obduracy of Okorocha, many heavyweights that contributed to his emergence and sustenance left the party including Ararume, Osita Izunaso, Uche Onyeaguocha, etc and the party decided to give the guber ticket to Uzodimma based on the outcome of the first primaries and since Okorocha had snatched his senate ticket.

There and then Okorocha directed his supporters to move to AA while he remained in APC to pursue his senate dream.
After the primaries, APC set up reconciliation committees to reconcile the party in all the states. They succeeded except in Imo and Ogun where Okorocha and Amosun remained adamant and insistent on their ultra selfish interests.
In fact Okorocha told an eminent APC reconciliation committee for Imo, made up of Govs Fayemi, Ganduje and former Gov Akpabio that his issue with APC is BEYOND RECONCILIATION and vowed to impose his son in-law at all costs. As a Leviathan he was, he chased away well meaning elements from the party.

This was a prelude to his political annihilation and obituary. The wounded elements in various shades and clothings emerged and consequently caved in, waged war against him, battled him and ensured that he went to the election besieged and battered.
Therein, he shouted wolf, denigrating and pointing accusing fingers on Adams, Hope, Ararume and Ohakim as the major gang up against his political ambition. He realized too late that his time was up. Consequently, he went to the polls and secured a collosal loss for APC.

People tend to forget too quick. APC was scattered and divided; there was silence and mourning in the party as was in Haddradimon of the valley of meggido, and the party became automatically a minority with only 3 lawmakers in the House, courtesy of Rochas Okorocha.
Eventhough APC regained phyrric victory and grip later through Tanko’ Supreme court, its ideal loss will mar Okorocha’s ambition for years.
