2023: Nigerian President Of Igbo Extraction, What Ndi Igbo Must Do!
Message To Ndi Igbo – By St Kay Ephan
THE GONG IS SOUNDING, CAN WE HEAR AND INTERPRET THE SOUND? DO WE DANCE TO THE TONE OF THE GONG? OR DO WE PLAY OUR OWN TUNE?
Ndi Igbo, we need to be critical, analytical and proactive in politicking if we must win support for ourselves in 2023 Presidential Election.
Why do i say this? The issue of zoning the President to the Igbos or the Southeast is not in Nigeria’s
constitution, but it’s entirely the ideology of PDP.
Recall that the brain behind the creation of six geopolitical zones in Nigeria was the late former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme and, the intent was to have power rotate amongst the six geopolitical regions.
Then, during the formation of the Peoples Democratic Party, he as the Chairman, Board Of Trustees (BOT) of PDP, the idea was enshrined in the party’s constitution.
None of the registered political parties in Nigeria has in their constitution, the issue of rotating the presidency between the North and South or the six geopolitical zones.
Now, for us as a nonpartisan ethnic group (Ndi Igbo), it’s pertinent to begin to seek out members of the political parties from the Igbo extraction, whether in APC, PDP, APGA and other political parties who have the capacity, experience and other required qualities to contest for President in 2023 and, we push such individuals through their party’s procedural method for consideration, selection and possible endorsement for the presidential election.
This is where we need to parley with political parties and consult with their excos in order to achieve this towering goal.
It’s not enough to demand for Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in 2023, we must play the politics to achieve this political agenda for our people and the entire Nigeria.
It’s necessary to organize consultative meetings with other ethnopolitical and ethnoreligious groups across the six geopolitical zones in the country.
We must not be sentimental about this matter, if not,” an Igbo extraction for Nigerian President come 2023 will be a mirage and elude us; we shall be disappointed in the end.
Politics is not by sentiments. It’s near impossible to separate politics from religion. Both must necessarily blend to form a formidable tool and force to achieve political aim.
Be it Afenifere, Arewa Consultative Forum, Middle Belt Elders Forum, etc; we must get them to support this cause and agenda for us to achieve Nigerian President of Igbo extraction in 2023, not merely paying lip service as we read almost every week in the national dailies.
We must not be carried away or be deceived by the euphoria of those comments, interviews and editorials in the national dailies; it is of utmost important to have them commit to this cause – real and tangible commitment.
Now is the RIPE time to take immediate action.

The facts need to be made clear as much as possible. The Igbo’s should liaise, consult and parley with other ethnic and ethnopolitcal and religious groups across the regions to win support of the Nigerian President of Igbo extraction come 2023. There’s no other time to start but now. Else the presidential race to Aso Rock shall elude us in 2023.
