President Biden Threatens Visa, Financial Sanctions Against Nigeria, Over Anti-Gay Law

Joe Biden the newly sworn-in US President has issued a Presidential Memorandum aimed expanding the projection of the rights of lesbians, gay, bisexuals, transgender and queer and intersex people all over the world.

 

In the Memo Joe Biden threatened swift and meaningful response including financial Sanctions against countries found guilty of human rights abuse of the guy.

The section 4 of the Memo reads : The department of state shall lead a standing group with appropriate interagency representations to help ensure the federal Governments swift and meaningful response to serious incidents that threatens the human rights persons abroad

When foreign governments move to restrict rights of persons or fail to enforce legal protections in place, thereby contributing to a climate of intolerance, agencies engaged abroad shall:

Consider appropriate responses, including using the full range of diplomatic and assistance tools and as appropriate, Financial Sanctions, Visa restrictions and other actions.
